Q Are parents allowed to watch while their children are attending class?
 
A Yes! We have a small viewing area with chairs.
 
Q My child missed a class, how do I book a make-up class?
 
A Please visit the Make-Up Class page for complete details on how to arrange for make-up classes.
 
Q  I would like my child to just "try" gymnastics to see if he/she likes it. Can I do this?
 
A Yes! Your child can attend one full class for free to see if he/she enjoys it. If you decide to register you will be charged $4 for the extra class.  
 
Q Are there any referral programs for referring friends to the gym, and do you offer group rates?
 
A Yes! and Yes! Please contact us for details. We offer both referral bonuses and group rates for more than one child
 
Q Where can I park my car?
 
A There is parking directly in front of the facility and around the entire block.
 
Q What is the registration fee for?

A Your registration fee pays for insurance and the awards program.
 
Q Why do I have to provide post-dated cheques?
 
A In order to reserve your child’s class placement we require post-dated cheques through to June. Otherwise, it will be assumed that you are not returning and your child’s spot in the class will be given away. This is in no way a commitment longer than one month at a time. You can get your post-dated back at any time we only require one weeks notice prior to the start of a regular calendar month.
 
Q Do I have to stay to watch my child?
 
A Not unless your child is under age 4.
 
Q Am I required to bring my child’s medallion to class during testing week?
 
A Yes, if his or her most recent medallion is a Step 1 or Step 2. Mastered levels are not required.
 
Q Are there discount for having 2 kids in the gym?
 
A No, however there is a 10% discount for families of 5 or more (paid by one source).
 
Q Are there change rooms?
 
A Yes. Our washrooms are very large and serve as our change rooms.
 
Q What happens in the event of an accident?
 
A The necessary first aid is immediately administered followed by an accident report. All of our staff must have their Standard First Aid.
 
Q What are the office hours?
 top
A Monday to Friday -- 11:30am to 1:30pm and 3:30pm to 6:30pm
Saturday -- 9:30am to 1:30pm
Sunday -- 10:00am to 1:00pm
Outside of office hours, a staff member will be available by phone between 8:30am to 7:30pm each day, as the office phone is forwarded to a cell phone out side of these times.
 
Q How do I deregister?
 
A Fill out the cancellation form on this web site, fax a written notice to 380-2449 or come into the office and deliver your notice in person.
 
Q Is there credit given for missed classes?
 
A Only in the case of illness where a doctor’s note can be provided otherwise student can take part in a makeup class.
 
Q Are the instructors certified?
 
A All of our instructors are certified by the National Coaching Certification Program
 
Q What is the difference between Victoria Gymnastics and the competition?

A - We guarantee our ratio of 8 students per instructor.
- Our facility is permanently set up with state of the art equipment for both boys and girls.
- Fees are assessed month to month without penalty for cancellation.
- Our facility is cleaned and ozone treated daily.
- We have experienced instructors who are continually upgrading their knowledge base though additional certification and coaching clinics.
- Our program structure is highly organized and rewards students as the progress throughout the entire learning process of each of the 14 levels.
 
Q What skills will my child learn?
 
A Our CANGYM program has over 530 skills on various apparatus that begin at lead ups to forward rolls, for example, and progress through to front flips.
 
Q What do the kids do during a birthday party?
 
A The actives are age and skill level appropriate. Party attendees will enjoy one hour with two instructors on the equipment followed by an hour in the full decorated party room. When on the equipment, kids usually find the main attraction to be the 40’ long trampoline that ends in a landing into our foam pit.
 
Q Can I have more than 12 kids I have paid for at my child’s birthday party?

A Yes. A head count is done at the start of the party and for any number of students above the 12 a $5.00 fee is charged per attendee.
 
Q Can I do a ‘Drop In’?
 
A No. You can do a trial class if you have never been previously registered with us.
 
Q Is an attendance kept of each class?
 
A Yes.
 
Q Can I pay via credit card?
 
A Sorry, we do not accept cards of any sort.

A No. A makeup class can be done at a later date.

A Gymnastics provide the basic movement patterns which all other sports depend upon (flexibility, strength, balance, spatial awareness, and focus)
 
Q What are some of the safety precautions that are taken to ensure my child’s safety?

A - Bathroom buddy system
- A coach must always be present when a student is on an apparatus
- Any skill that a student performs must be appropriate to ability
- Our low student ratio
- NCCP certified coaches
- Universal first aid training
 
Q How many students are there per instructor?
 
A For safety reasons, our guaranteed ratio policy is 8 students per instructor.
 
Q What if I have a child less than 24 months of age who I want to attend?
 
A For your child to maximize his or her gymnastics experience 24 is the minimum age.
 
Q What should I expect on my child’s first day of class?
 
A Come to the office to confirm your child’s registration. Then your child will be called onto the main floor where he/she will take part in a 10 minute group warm-up that involves all of the students rotating around to instructor for a specific warm-up activity. Following this, student go their instructors where they will learn which four apparatus they will be visiting during the class.
 
Q When can I start?

A Any time fees are pro-rated to reflect the class time remaining in a month.
 
Q Can I switch classes?
 
A Yes, at any time. Students often switch class times as they take on other activities thoughout the year.
 
Q How do I register?
 
A You can register over the phone, via our online registration form, or in person during our office hours.
 
Q What happens during the summer?
 
A We offer a variety of different camps that run 5 days in duration as well as a modified version of our fall program.
 
Q How do students get into the competitive program?
 
A Entry into our competitive program is by invitation only. Our recreational coaches keep a sharp eye out for students who demonstrate an aptitude for competitive gymnastics.
 
Q Are there any cost saving incentive programs?

A Yes. If you pay 10 months in one payment you will receive a 10% discount.
 
Q How many times per week should my child attend?
 
A One per week is recommended for new students.
 
Q Is the program recreation program competitive in any way?
 
A Not at all. Our CANGYM program is set up so that it is self paced and individualized.
